Mission & Values

Our Mission

We exist to provide a safe, comfortable, and authentic atmosphere for worshipers and potential-worshipers to connect with God in a way that honors our uniqueness as individuals.

Our Core Values

We have have six core values at Amatheis Church:
  1. Biblical Application -- God has given us a roadmap for life in Holy Scripture. We take this seriously at Amatheis and think it's important that each of us learns from God's Word. Our leadership tries to keep a pulse on what is happening in our congregation and then we sculpt our preaching schedule around these felt needs. If we're going through a joyous season, we'll probably do a session on joy (or maybe on suffering b/c that could very well be right around the corner). Or, in tax season, we might do a series on prosperity, finances, or tithing. Rest assured that whatever you're likely going through we'll try to speak into that area from the Bible.
  2. Philanthropic Mission -- We think it's important for God's people get involved in helping "the least of these." We primarily do this through apportioning a significant part of our budget to FEMA, United Way, Peace Corps, and Task Force for Global Health.
  3. Authentic Anonymity -- These might seem like two opposing values to some, but we think they can exist in perfect harmony. We desire authenticity about our struggles because, let's face it, we're all going to struggle seriously with sin all our days because we're human. But we also value the ability to be anonymous if you want to be without having to worry about someone getting all up in your business each Sunday.
  4. Artistic Worship -- We love to worship through all kinds of media. Our nationally-famous and award-winning 25-piece worship band will surely appeal to everyone, putting a R&B/pop spin on classic Christian songs. You'll also notice the our sanctuary is virtually wallpapered with art from our K-12 graders. At any point in the service that you have the urge, we invite you to get up and stroll around the perimeter of our worship space to experience God through art. If you need a different kind of meditative experience, we invite you to talk a walk in our "He is Ri-Zen" rock and waterfall garden off the main atrium.
  5. Fruitful Success -- We strive to be excellent in everything we do here and hope that you have the same desire. We are all called to be faithful servants of Christ; indeed he says in John 15 that if you're a Christian you will bear much fruit. Thus, we expect that everyone in our church will be regularly enjoying fruitful and successful ministry in evangelism and discipleship.
  6. Gospel Vision -- The Bible says somewhere that without vision the people perish. Thus, things will surely go wrong for us if we don't have a strong vision for where we are going individually and as a church. We regularly produce strategic plans in our staff meetings and in all of our small groups to ensure that we always have the right vision in front of us as a church. This vision is typically passed down to us from Pastor (and the elders) and is informed by some of the foremost leadership strategists of our day.
